This month I got to enjoy the tastes of Portugal. Now I’ve never considered going to Portugal, but the food alone may have changed my mind. Here’s my Try The World Portugal Box Review.
Try The World Portugal Box Review
Violette was crazy excited for her box. It’s become quite the event over in our house. Naturally she first wanted to attack the cookies.
These Casa Luna crisp and buttery cookies are fabulous! I had them later with the yummy Apple and Cinnamon Black Tea from IT. The tea in the box was a blend of apple and cinnamon. I actually drank it cold, as suggested. With simple syrup and ice, it was a nice treat for me. Here is where things get really interesting….the codfish in olive oil from Briosa Gourmet.I did ignore the cooking directions and made mine the fast way, in the toaster oven. I seasoned with the very interesting Sea Salt and Lemon from Hands on Earth, crushed black pepper, touch of lime juice, and then I got brave and used a few drops of the included Piri Piri Hot Sauce by Paladin.
OK, this blew my mind! I was jumping for joy because I normally don’t like fish, but this wasn’t fishy, it was just amazing. And as much as I was scared of the Piri Piri Hot Sauce, it was PERFECTION with the Codfish!
This is why I love Try The World boxes. Now that I have a new favorite must have item, I can head to their store and buy more of the Codfish. I don’t have to search online, I know where to find it.
I’m going to need to get this box’s chef, Chef George Mendes box too. His Portuguese dishes earned him a Michelin star, so you know it’s going to be good. Last up we have all the tasty stuff on toast. This was basically my dinner the other night (plus broccoli) lol. I was very happy.
Above you’ll see the Caramelized Onions with Port Wine by Casa Da Prisca and the Pumpkin and Hazelnut Jam by Rare by Quinta De Jugais.
The Caramelized Onions with Port Wine were sweet and savory. A unique flavor that my husband and I really enjoyed. The following day I put it on toast with a fried egg on top for dinner. Just wonderful!
The Pumpkin and Hazelnut Jam I was at first worried I wouldn’t like. I’m not a fan of too sweet and don’t tend to like jams. Thankfully this jam wasn’t like apple or pumpkin pie. It was actually pumpkin flavored with a strong hazelnut favor too. I was grateful it didn’t have cinnamon so it wasn’t really like pie. I loved the nuttiness and was happy to eat it up quickly.
It is also recommended with yogurt, so perhaps tomorrow’s breakfast!
The box also included some Extra-Virgin Olive Oil from Olivais do Sul. I put some on toast with pepper and the Sea Salt and Lemon…you have to try it!
I hope you enjoyed tasting Portugal with me. Check out Try The World to get your taste of the world today!
