How I Got My Lavender Balayage Hair Color
First I get my bleached balayage from Hair By Louis. He uses Olaplex so the bleaching doesn’t damage my hair. The blonding only takes one session. He just goes until it turns out right.
Then I make another appointment to add in the fashion color. Grey, orchid, light pink, lavender. After it was very vivid. I wanted a more grey faded tone. So no problem…I can get that myself. He may cringe, but here’s what I did. I used baking soda and dish soap. Put tons on my hair in sections and rinsed out some color. I repeated a few times until the color was toned down. Then a few days later I added titanium grey and lavender from Sally’s (look for the ION brand). The lavender came out still a little too vibrant. So next time I’ll also buy a clear mixer and do a 50/50 of clear to lavender. This will help to tone down the lavender.
But since the lavender was vibrant, I toned it down using a few washes with Head and Shoulders Shampoo. It’s not color safe fyi.
You can still see some vibrant orchid streaks, but now they are just a few peaking out. It’s much more wearable and I love it.
Dealing With Parents Who Hate Fashion Color Hair
I hear this all the time from friends who have to deal with their parents coming down on them for using fun colors in their hair. They say it makes them look uneducated, like a drug addict, criminal, depressed, an expression of mental issues, ugly, classless, tasteless, unemployable, like a freak. Need I even go on?
If you have ever done fashion colors you probably have experienced the backlash from…someone.
Here I am at my advanced age and I STILL have to hear it from my parents. My father openly mocks me, even in public. Calling me “purple head” and anything to annoy me enough to change it back. My mother looks at me with utter disgust. Touches my hair like it’s full of bugs and tells me how pretty I was with a “natural color”.
I’ve been ignoring it because one day I woke up and realized I don’t want to wait until they die to live my life. I’m not a bad person because of my hair. That’s just INSANE. If someone wants to judge me, that’s their problem.
Baby Girl To The Rescue
I was super proud of my barely 4 year old when she finally had enough and yelled at my father. She couldn’t take it anymore when he would ask her if my purple hair look awful or how do she feels about her mom’s crazy hair. She looked him dead in the face and said, “That’s enough Papa!! It’s just hair. That. Is. Enough. Leave Mama alone.”
Key Biscayne AirBnB
My inlaws came to visit us and are staying out in Key Biscayne. They got this very cute home rental from AirBnB. It’s very boho vibe. I dig it. I just couldn’t stand the terrible beds. But love the huge ceiling, brightness, and that it has a pool. It’s like a time wrap. Everything is fancy, but super vintage. The toilets are crazy old and strange looking. They were clearly expensive and fashionable in their day. It’s like being in a time capsule.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME…
This weekend I’m having a birthday party and since I’m still on the Repairvite Cleanse and diet (more about that to come!) I’m having a raw, vegan potluck! I’m also having some no added sugar raw vegan sweets by Raw Chef Carla! Yasssss! Her food was so good at the blogger brunch I hosted.
