Today I’m super excited to share what we did with our (GROSS) second/guest bathroom. We did a budget bathroom makeover and I went ahead and did a full price and product breakdown. Check out the bottom of the post for an awesome giveaway from Giani to resurface your bathroom vanity and countertop.
Straight to the budget, it was about $1,849 in total. I got really good deals on everything and some items I was able to find on sale or cheaper at TJMaxx or at stores. So do you’re due diligence and hunt for bargains.
Originally I only wanted to change the light fixture, paint the cabinet + counter top + change the faucet + change the shower and tub facet combo. Well, that didn’t happen. My super budget makeover, suddenly became just shy of $2000. There was mold and water warping all over the vanity cabinet. It wasn’t salvageable. Either way, it’s still a pretty good deal considering my master bathroom remodel is $10,000+.
Problems With The Old Bathroom
It was YELLOW! EWWW! I just hated it. Yellows and beiges. So horrible. Check out the miss-matched knobs.
I love cool bright spaces. Unfortunately, we are still set back from our master bathroom remodel and really want to get to the backyard. So we had to do something, but couldn’t afford a full on remodel. So nothing that we needed to hire people to do for us was possible. The yuck tiles and tub had to stay.
Working With The Old
I had to work with beige tiles, but I still wanted cool tones. Going with a Mother Of Pearl detailed mirror, allowed me to bring in both grey and beige tones. It works well with the floor tile and the grey details. Since the toilet is a beige and old, we changed that with one for less than $100. You would be surprised how easy it is to change a toilet. No plumber needed. THANKS YOUTUBE! We also were able to figure out how to remove and replace the faucets. YouTube education at it’s finest.
My Budget Bathroom Makeover
Already you see how cool and bright the room looks. The lighting was the same time of day in both images. The cast of the ugly old yellow cabinet covered the entire bathroom before. It’s such a huge change that we are not ready to hold off on a full remodel and tackle the backyard.
